I've just received my first pair of proper leather tall riding boots and I'm not sure how to care for them? I'm thinking I need to get some leather conditioner and some boot trees to keep them in good shape? Please advise!

I'm currently wearing them around the house to break them in, but I have a competition on Sunday and would like to wear them for that :)

Congratulations on your first pair of leather boots - nothing like them.

Boot trees a must. Before you wear them and after every cleaning, use a standard waterproofing spray, really helps. I clean all my boots with good quality shoe polish. If they get very wet I dry them, naturally not in direct heat, then use a conditioner before polishing. The worst thing for leather is urine, so I only ride in mine, all other yard duties, washing off etc, I use other boots. If they have zips up the back and they get a bit sticky, put some furniture polish on a duster and rub it over the teeth, gets them sliding again.

Look after your boots and they should last you years.
