Currently I am a Civil Engineer and work 9 - 5:30 monday to friday. Due to the changes and turmoil in the construction industry over the past couple of years it got a little bit risky at work with some people being made redundant. Luckily I was kept on but suffered a pay cut. When this happened I took the opportunity to set up my own little business buying and selling on ebay as a registered business seller.

This was 18months ago and it is going relatively well and it is now advancing to a unit rather than boxes in a bedroom, looking at employing some staff and expanding fairly quickly.

I am however still working for my employer and my sister is taking over some of the work to enable the expansion and growth. The current store is retailing clothing but what we both want to do is horse stuff and may consider trying it out towards the end of the year

But I am curious, who has set something up that has snowballed?

What do you Do?

Did you dive in and take the full career change?

Is it horse related or is it strictly work to fund hobby?

What do you find to be the hardest part?

I went from being a response officer in the Police to a director in a PSV company...

Started off getting all of the appropriate operators licence's sorted and the planning permission granted and then buying one vehicle... 6 weeks later I had to buy a 2nd vehicle, and so on and so on. I now have 12 vehicles and a really good team of staff. I could NEVER go back to working for someone else again...

I've been my own boss now for 2 years and I've never looked back :)
