I was recommended a while ago to use this on my horse but we thought £66 was a bit expensive for a bit of elastic!

We got offered a pair for £20 and we probably will get them for that, what are people's opinions on it, are they worth it or are they just a stupid bit of elastic? :)

Seriously? What is wrong with your shoulder joint exactly???

Why do you need an elastic rein?

Thats exactly what I thought! Everyones like ahh there amazing etc etc and apperently it will be good for my boy as he leans on your hand but theres cheaper ways of fixing that :p

Well for £20 gunna give it a go and when it doesn't work sell it on ebay for like £40 to someone else who thinks its the best thing since sliced bread cause it has Carl Hesters name on it!

Let us know what you think of them... I'm contemplating borrowing a pair, but doubt they'll be transforming, I would like to hope dobbin has a fairly elastic feel down the rein from my upper limb!

Well, you've got a good business head on those shoulders....

One day, you'll realise all you had to do was sit up, bring your elbows back to your sides and holds your reins in your hands upright - instant elastic reins without even a bit of elastic in sight.

I think the only time their useful is to show novice riders how a horse should feel in your hand so when they eventually achieve that they know. Other than that I can't see them having anymore use but I will tell you how they go, not expecting wonders tbh!

Ok cool, don't forget!! I am interested to see what you think after all that :)

Replied once and the forum kindly deleted it for me

Before Carl marketed this idea, I was reschooling a mare with a mouth that'd been ruined by a show producer who taught her to tuck her nose back behind the contact by socking her in the gob if she tried to work into it. Applying leg made her go up and down on the spot, or rear, as she felt she had nowhere to go.

I worked with her for a while and would just begin to get a feel, before she'd grab down (was incredibly unbalanced), meet the bit and scare herself. Back to square one.

It was actually Chris Bartle who suggested elastic, but since I had none, I improvised with my elastic ride reins and rode with both those and my normal reins! Once she realised that the bit didn't mean a sock in the gob, she started to accept it, and I could then use the normal reins and an elastic "feel." Before that, she was so sensitive that my own "elasticity" wasn't enough for her.

If you truly need a pair, get them, but if not I agree with the others!

I've used flexi reins in the past with great success. They are expensive (£30) but made a seriously big difference to my horse. They absorb all the subtle movements that we mere mortals aren't aware of!
