Thought the doghouse would be a good place for this 😁

So I have 2 GSD sized dogs, a third visiting GSD and a baby. We are moving into a house with carpet throughout and I can imagine it's going to be a nightmare. My dogs are mud and hair magnets and everything they touch smells of wet dog.

Can anyone recommend a carpet cleaner that actually works, won't leave my house soaking and won't die a death due to fluff?

Thanks!

I was hoping there would be a magic answer out there! I had seen a vac for £100 but wasn't sure if it would be up to the job. It's a daily/weekly cleaner I need not just a freshen up once a year...

Well let the ripping up of carpet commence!

I've got various friend's houses and carpets clean and dog smell free using firstly a Dyson animal, then hit the carpets with an industrial Polti Mondial dry steam cleaner (which kills all the smells as it kills all the bacteria in the carpet as well as opening the pile up). Then I go at it with an industrial Rug Doctor (larger and wider than the red ones you see in supermarkets for hire) It beats the carpet 3,000 times per minute and is a deep hot extraction unit.
Once it's dried out I Dyson it again as an incredible amount of hair and fluff will have been brought out of the carpet pile by the steam cleaner and the carpet shampooer.
Hard work but worth while!

my friend had a similar problem but she had 2 collie X dogs and she ended up clipping them underneath ! no it didn't look good but it enabled her to give the dogs a bit of a wash outside then towel dry them before they came indoors, she also bought 2 big beds and put old towels in them ready for the wet dogs, then once dry she would then get rid of towels and put there fleece blankets in it did make a lot of washing but it saved her carpets and it was a temporary housing situation.

Most cleaners still prefer the Henry range to the fancier things and they do a pet one (although I didn't bother and went with something more standard) and some cleaning ones too.

Have to say though I wouldn't combine dogs & carpet. But then I try to to combine people and carpet either!

Got rid of carpets two years ago. Too much fluff and faff, even with a Bissel cleaner and a Henry. I buy outdoor rugs for the hard floors and clean them occasionally with a good hosing outdoors.

If you find something that works, can you let the rest of us know :D

My house is mainly lino and laminate. I only have carpet in one bedroom and the living room now. My holiday cottage has carpets throughout though, so it would be good to hear of a product that actually works.
