I posted the other day about my geldings bad day at the local riding of the marches.

Well i have been riding on the farm all week and he has not changed a bit. he has been working really well schooling in the paddocks.

This morning the riders came across the farm, which was very enjoyable for everyone (today was fancy dress day) Batman led the gallop!

Today i got the first chance to hack him out into the town. i cant say i hadnt had some bad thoughts about how he would react. he was good but he was far more alert than previously. he watched and noticed things, i dont think he noticed before. the worst was 2 ladies with umbrellas that i thought would be an end to us both but we got past them. i know the umbrellas would upset most.
But his general ears pricked up did concern me.
or was it just me being nervous ?

I think you probably did have some nerves due to what happened the other day, but that's totally understandable.

OK, he was alert, but he dealt with everything (and you are quite right, two umbrellas are scary to some horses - I own a horse like that) so hopefully you will now feel more confident again. :)

I have no words of advice, but read your other thread, and just wanted to say well done you two! You did it and it was scary, but you did it! :D

As far as he was concerned, he went to a party the other day, and he was on his toes in the hope that there would be another one... You would have been slightly on edge because of how he was the other day. Between the two of you, that results in a slightly more "forward" ride.

Focus on the fact that you did it, you coped, he was fine. Each ride will get easier. Then in future ease him gradually into big rides out with other horse.

Possibly he was just wondering what you were worried about... ;)

Don't look for things for him to worry about, look past the, where you want to go and be positive.

was probably a bit of tension from you both, him because he was expectant of something more after the other day and you because you felt a tad nervous :)

The main thing is you went out and did it and you were fine so well done to you both :)
