Anybody been to Carsington Water? Tempted to do the endurance ride there at the end of the month, what are the tracks like? Horse is barefoot, wondered how much sharp flinty ground there was. Thanks!

I did my first 50 mile ride there and it is a lovely ride, although quite alot on disused railway line which is quite stony and a fair amount of tarmac - however a lovely ride.
Might be worth an email to the ride organiser, they may be able to email you a route map and give you some better idea of the going as the route may have changed from previous years.

Not sure if your ride will be the same route but I ride round the 8 mile (i think) circuit round the reservoir. Its pretty much all limestone type paths- though well trodden so not mega sharp (I'm trying to remember...).

Thanks both, tarmac is fine - its just very stony tracks I prefer to avoid!
