Any idea what kind of improvement i should be seeing after the 3rd injection in the loading dose?
My boxer has arthritic changes in this front left wrist (sorry cant remember technical term), Metacam didnt really help so we are on cartrophen injections & hydrotherapy with a high dose Glucosamine/ MSM/ Chonditin supplement.
He's due his 4th injection on friday and will see the consulting vet to decide how often he needs to go back for top ups.
I am struggling to see much difference TBH, he's really quite stiff and lame after hydro (although it does ease off) and he's still very stiff first thing in the morning?
Any other ideas for treatment i should persue with the vet or does the cartrophen need more time to do its thing?
thank you xx

My Lab had a course of 4 injections at the end of last year and, whilst I saw a small improvement after the second and third injections, the real improvement didn't really show until about 2 weeks after the fourth injection. Don't give up hope yet - it may yet yield the result you want!!

Sorry I have no experience of cartrophen injections.

My girl has chronic arthritis in both elbows and wrists :(. She has been on metacam for several years but she has seriously deteriorated so decided to ask my vet for a referral for acupuncture :)

The acupuncture seems to be helping but the vet also prescribed Tramadol as well as a homeopathic remedy. She is still on metacam, green lipped mussel and msm too.

I have to admit the Tramadol worked within 48 hours - she went from hopping on 3 legs to running on 4 legs  :D. So as a painkiller can't recommend it enough ;)

Kc was previously going to hydrotherapy but other than fun, not convinced it helped her a she was often tense for he first part of the session :(

Dont panic just yet, wait till the end of the treatment and fingers crossed you should see an improvement. There are other drugs as well you can try too so plenty of other options yet xx
