I have searched but not found quite the answer Im looking for.

If you have used cartrophen to good effect how long did it take for you to see an improvement? My mare is having her first injection next week and is in very light work, only hacking out roadwork at present.

One of my horses I saw no response at all with the weekly injections so I stopped after about 5 injections.

The other horse responded really well and I think it was a noticeable difference after the 2nd weekly injection. My problem with him he is a nightmare to inject and it go so traumatic that I decided not to continue after 4 injections and just use bute.

I think it was after the 3rd injection of the first course with Alf. Now he is on regular single injections, I feel an improvement about a week after each injection

It was almost immediate with my old horse. Day 3 after the first one he was prancing around the field like a 3 year old! We only do them about once every 6 months on him. He tells us when he needs a top up. (If it works I get a prescription from the vet and buy online, many £££ cheaper).

Just wanted to report back for anyone who might read this thread.

Cartrophen worked a treat and mare is now much freer in her movement and able to stand her work so far with ease so it’s done what I wanted it to. I would say I saw a marked difference after injection 3.

That sounds like it has worked really well for your mare and it’s so nice to see them moving better. My Connie also showed an improvement after three injections which is exactly when the vet said he would. He had his last jab on 27th October and has his full workup at the end of the month and I’m hoping he won’t need a top up for at least three months after that.
