Cartrophen/ stiffness and dogs

Sorry this is not horsey but hope Vet section also is available for dogs.
My 12 year old Lab is showing signs of stiffness, especially after exercise. I've heard that Cartrophen injection may help.
had anyone any experiences please? I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow but need some information so I can get the most from my consulancy with him. Thanks
 
My dog is 13 and has been having Cartrophen for a couple of years now, it really does help him, when we started he would have one every three months or so but over the winter he is having one a month to keep him on an even keel. We are hoping with the better weather over summer maybe we can go longer between again, but its working well for us at the moment and he just has painkillers as and when his brain told his body to do more than its capable of now, its so sad when they start to slow down :o

I think its one of those things that works for some and not others. We also found physio now and again helps too.
