My mare had it to help repair her cartilage and heal her tendon (she tore her tendon and also has degenerated cartilage between that tendon and the pedal bone). Gawd knows yet if it has worked (well I'll never find out but my insurance paid up so I thought it can;t do any harm!). My vet was very keen to give it a go though, and I'd rather give it to her and it not work, than not give it to her as then it can't work! My vet swears by it though for that sort of thing. Apparently it's currently unlicensed for use in horses but is used extensively in dogs, especially for helping those with arthritis and the like.
It cost me just under £70 a go, four injections a week apart. So probably just over £250 but worth a try IMO for my horse.
My boy has just had his first jab (well a week ago, I need to get the next one in but vet receptionist isnt that helpful) Am in similar situation to Silmarillion with my boy. I hope its a helping hand but if it does nothing at least I gave it a go.
my horse had 3 jabs while he was having shockwave for his annular ligament problem. dont think it worked coz he didn't come sound. it was about £55 a bottle and they need a whole bottle at a time. We use it in small animals for arthritis and it seems to work well.
Am in the same situation really, My boy had his first jab yesterday and we decided that if we didnt give it to him it couldnt work so we might as well try it and see
He damaged the ligament that joins the long and short pastern and also has a bone cyst on his sesamoids.
My dog has been on monthly injections for about 8 months. They have really really helped her. Shes like a puppy again now. I saw an improvement after about 3 weeks.
My mare had amonthly injection of it to help with her arthritis. I'm still not sure wether it helped or not TBH. Results were not a clear cut improvement.
My horse is on in as she has surgery 7 weeks ago and had massive cartledge trauma.
She had in weekly for 4 weeks and has now gone onto monthly jabs which i do for 5 months.
Its about 50 a bottle plus the needle and syringe but if you do it yourself like i do you dont have to pay the vets call out and the fee for them to do it.
I cant ride my horse untill jan but hope it helps the cartlege repair itself.
