Cast

Im quite concerned, my horse got cast in his stable this afternoon, which he has never done in the past 1.5 years I've owned him. Nothing has dramatically changed in his routine and I cannot figure out why it happened?

Thankfully, he seems uninjured, but had definatly panicked as he has scratched and chipped his stable mirror! I put an extra bale of shavings in and built his banks up even more.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what to do as im really worried and have never experienced this before!

thanks scotsmare, I suppose that does makes sense, he can be a bit dozy. Think I just needed someone to say that it does just sometimes happen. phew!!
 
It happens.

One of my stalls has a row of wooden slats screwed horizontally to the walls at about 8" intervals, so I think a previous occupant made a point of getting himself stuck. With the slats they can get a foothold and push themselves over rather than their feet just sliding upwards. Rubber matting works the same way apparently, I have a stall lined with that too.
