Currently in tears, it's very bittersweet tbh

The guy who clipped Castle for me last season (and also hunts with my pack) rung me yesterday evening to say a friend of his was interested in a genuine all-rounder for his daughter who is quite novicey... He rung me at around 3.30 to say he couldn't come, and then rung me again later to say that he'd like to come at about 6.30 to come view Castle... D arrived just after 5 o'clock (fortunately I was at the yard at that time) with his friend who was interested in Castle. They looked at him first in the stable, guy really liked him... I brought him out, D "vetted" him (he's a very knowledgable guy, he buys, breaks in, and sells on hunters so he know's exactly what to look for), and then hopped on him without a saddle and trotted him up and down the yard a few times... D has seen his hunt many times so knows he's an excellent hunter, and as he has also clipped him a few times he knows he's 100% to clip... The guy offered me €XXXX straight up, but I said no as IMO it was too low... Just before we left he said he'd give €XXXX amount for him (only €200 below what I was asking for him), and I agreed... He'll collect Castle tomorrow, he'll be going to a really nice home where I'll get regular updates, and I'm sure he'll teach the little girl so much

Hope it turns out to be the perfect home for him - he is such a special pony and I know you will be sad to say good-bye to him.

Wow very sudden, very sad though but you were big on him lol. did the little girl not ride him?

No, but D and the other guy know their stuff so I think they had a "gut instinct" to buy him.

How sad for you, now it's actually happening. Of course you will miss him so much

But at least you have 'connections' to his new home, and you will know how he is getting on. I am sure after a very short while you will be happy for him.

As Boss says give him a big hug from all of us on the forum! How sad for you but it sounds like a nice home. Just think you'll only have one grey to keep clean now!

Sorry, I had no idea you were thinking of selling him - or were you? He is such a fab boy. Hopefully as he is not going far you will get to see him sometimes ut and about.
Sounds as if he is going to a nice home.

It's really sad I know, but just think how much he has taught you in the time you have had him and how much fun you have had together.

It's a new adventure for the next Castle rider and memories last forever!

Good luck l hope Castlemouse is happy in his new home

Awww - he's such a superstar, a really genuine fun and capable pony. He's going to have a fantastic time teaching a young rider all he's taught you and being loved to pieces by her. I know you'll miss him because you've had so much fun and done so much together but I'm sure he'll have a wonderful time.

Have a hug from me too. It must be hard to let him go. I have never made any secret of the fact that I think Castlemouse is a wonderful chap but he will have the chance to make someone else happy now and I am sure he will be well loved. Give Castle a hug from me too - I don't know him but I feel as if I do!

Thanks again everyone

The people came to collect Castle at 5 this evening. I rode him at about 3 around the field and popped him over a few jumps, he was such a star

The little girl loves him to bits, and kept cuddling him when he was in his stable at my yard

D is trying to convince her to come out hunting this Saturday (the meet is about a mile from my yard), she isn't sure that she'll go though as she's quite a nervous rider. I might be hunting a friends horse on Saturday, if she manages to get the farrier out by then that is, so hopefully I'll see Castle out!
