Hi,

Murphy is now 6 months old, he hasnt humped anything yet hasnt even tried (except his sister when we met her at about 4 months..... ). I dont know whether to castrate him; I had a full choc lab for 6 months and he was fine no different to any castrated dog.

Also ive heard that it can affect their growth? He is already quite a big boy, around 25kg but wouldnt want to think it had had any affect.

Thank you :)

P.s hes a german shepherd cross old english sheepdog

Leave him as he is;that coat will become utterly unmanageable ,if he is a nice person ,why meddle? If you are worried he might mate someone else`s bitch..a vasectomy is easily done.If you absolutely MUST neuter the poor thing ,wait until after one year old. Then at least his growth plates will have sealed and he will have some of the nice male characteristics.

1 year, as suggested his growth will be near enough complete then, I would castrate for the health implications alone regardless of beahviour, just my opinion though:)
