As title, really. Cat (normally very vocal) has been miaow-less for the last couple of days. He opens his mouth to miaow but nothing comes out. Otherwise fine, eating as normal and I can't see anything stuck. Ideas?

Nope, no signs of a cold but he did throw up at least a couple of times (I say at least because he got ejected from the house after the second time!) a few days ago. So maybe something did some damage when it was being sicked up?

It's very weird having an almost silent cat (he's asleep on my lap, snoring his head off  )

Had this with our kitten - think when she threw up (quite a number of times) she got stomach acid on her vocal chords. She was silent for a couple of weeks, then a bit croaky and then back to full yell mode ...
