I'd have wanted to put him down myself if he did that to my cats. And not via a "nice" peaceful method such as lethal injection....

Evil people and the busy roads are the reasons I will never again have outdoor cats

Hope he gets what's coming to him in prison and it's a slow painful death like those poor cats suffered

Usually these days if the sentence is suspended he will be given an alternative Community Penalty, and they can be quite onerous. I appreciate it's not as severe as a spell in prison but at least they don't get away with no punishment like they used to in the old days.
