I have a one and a half year old cat. House cat as he is FIV.
He is perfectly healthy and happy and bold but has a strange habit of scratching under his jaw. When he does it its quite rough.

I have had him to the vet twice, once when i got him to treat ear mites (all gone now) but the itching got better but didnt stop and as he still had scabs under his chin i took him back a few months later and he got a steriod injection and a antibiotic. That was a couple of weeks ago and his skin is all healed and lovely and smooth and soft but he still itches. Mostly first thing in the morning, about 5am until I get up at 6am to feed him, i can hear him scratching away at the bottom of my bed!

He does it occasionally during the day but not persistantly like he does in the morning. What on earth can it be? maybe its just a habit now? luckly he's not breaking the skin anymore.

Has anyone got any ideas? maybe i'm worrying over nothing but he is my wee baby! :)

I'd try getting him allergy tested? One of ours came up with a rash / scabby bit under his chin recently but he wasnt itching it. He had antibiotics and steroids too and it seemed to have sorted it so far. Vet said they thought possibly an allergic reaction.
