We have two indoor cats, one has never been dirty ever but the other is a different story.......
He is 4 and has done this since he was four months old when we go him, he uses the litter for a pee (although we cannot leave any clothes on beds etc as he would pee on them!) but he will not use litter for a number 2!
We have tried all the usual tips, multiple trays, cleaned daily, private spaces, no hood etc but he won't use it, he likes to go on a hard floor right in the middle!
It's always bugged me as I'm paranoid about smell, but we have recently refurbished house so he's doing it on all new floors!!

Any one have this problem please help me!:(:(

Have you tried a Feliway diffuser???. I have 3 cats aged 16, 15, 14, always lived together although the female has always been a nervous cat and hated one of the boys. Few weeks ago she started weeing on my sons duvet, took that out of reach and she started weeing on his carpet , then pooing and wouldn't come out of his bedroom. She seemed to have developed agriphobia as always has access to cat flap and usually went out. I thought the boy cat had been bullying her and to save the carpet I put a tray down, but omg the poo smell, it makes us gag!!!. I plugged a Feliway in and in 24 hrs she was back on the sofa, did go out but came in to poo, but now she happily goes out and is back to normal.
I got it from Animed direct as vets wanted double the price. It might be a bit harder to break a 4 year habit though. Feel for you, cat poo is foul stinky stuff.

I agree with trying as many different litters as possible, some cats don't like the feel of harsh litters on their paws and will avoid it, or even trying an empty tray maybe lined with newspaper initially to see if he'll go in that - won't hide the smell but might save the floor if he uses it, then start adding small amounts of litter and see if he'll use it?
