My mum has an elderly cat that needs to be pts at the weekend but she is terrified of everyone, you can't pick her up or handle her without getting bitten and scratched, my mum can't deal with it so I am going to have to do it but I really don't know how to go about it, we have to corner her to get her in a box which is really stressful for her and once at the vet it will take a few people to hold her down I just think it's a horrible last moment for her, is there a sedative we could feed her to make it a bit easier?

Is there an oral sedative that can be given on feed? With similar effects to Sedalin on horses?

As above, it's worth explaining to the vet and seeing if there is anything they can suggest or prescribe etc.

With my anxious dog who we had started behaving really erratcially, we got an oral sedative from the vet first. She was away with the fairies and was there but not there at the same time. The vet also came out to the car and would have been happy to PTS in the boot of the car if she looked like she was worried or would have been upset going in to the actual vets.
