cat with lymphoma

i put this in soapbox but thought i might have more luck here. has anyone ever had a cta with lymphoma . we have been told by vet not to try chemo but that we could try steriods which can not cure it but means he will be here a bit longer. just like any views please
 
no sorry havent come across of a cat with lymphoma
sorry not quite sure what it is but sounds serious

Ask youself a few questions first,could you put your cat through all of the trauma of treatment
How old is the cat
Do you want to put the cat through the treament only for abit of extra time with him
How is the cat at the moment
Would the cat be alot happier with the loving care of his family
Good luck with your decision
 
why did the vet not want to try chemo? lymphoma is probably the one cancer in animals that tends to respond very well to chemo, although it depends how advanced it is and how bad the symptoms are.
 
sadly he was pts this afternoon. he had lymph glands up in his neck and 7 lumps on his body including a large lump in his intestine. he had not been able to eat for 4 days and his breathing was very noticeable he was heaving. i trust the vet 100% he looked after all our greyhounds
 
I think I replied to the post in NL.
I am SO sorry for your loss. All I can say is, that I had 2 kittens with lymphosarcoma, one was treated unsuccessfully and I felt it prolonged her agony. The second I PTS once I had a diagnosis. Although dreadfully upsetting, it was the very best thing to do for my animal.
I am really sorry for you though.

it sounds like it was too advanced to try chemo. i think you and the vet made the right call, tough as it must have been :cuddle:
