Hi, my old cat passed a couple of years back, recently a friend has kittens by accident! Now I'd love one mum is super friendly and kittens are to but I'm moving, I currently live down a no through road with woods out the back our old cat had a lovely time here, the new house is literally a one minute walk from our field so ideal but on a busy village road, the new house has huge long cottage garden to the back would it be possible to keep a cat within the garden with a sound barrier fence or any other suggestions? I'd love a kitten BT really don't want to be responsible for a squashed cat long term?!! Any thoughts? Any thing possible?

We have DIY cat fencing - it's a tad unsightly but does the job. You can buy kits but they are expensive and you can do it yourself if you have half a DIY minded brain!!

Please tell! I have six house cats......I live in a very rural area but won't let my cats out because my garden backs onto private woodland and the landowner lets his Rhodesian Ridgebacks wander freely so can't risk my kitties going out! Would love to restrict them to my garden!

Never heard of anyone using sound wave barriers for cats. Can't help there. However I used to breed pedigree cats and kept a closed household. Several friends did the same and some used to raise the height of their garden fences and then fix some angle iron at 45 degrees inwards to the top of a 6' fence and fixed and draped fairly loosely, strawberry netting to it so that it created an overhang inwards to the garden. The strawberry netting needs to be slack but not with gaps anywhere. Cats like to feel secure if they go climbing to the wobbliness of the netting makes them think again. I know of at least 2 people with stud cats that used this system and nothing ever escaped, and trust me an entire Tom would be away like greased lightening given the chance. Give that a try, not overly expensive either. Good luck with it.
