Bit of a way off, but this will take some planning! My soon to be Husband will be based at Catterick come January 2015 and I will be joining him with my horse. I am looking for a super livery yard where I can have him on a full or full/part basis as I will be working during the week.
He is a sensitive TB, so looking for a nice barn type yard, individual turn out, good hacking with quiet lanes, somewhere to park my little lorry (3.5t) with good tack room etc, he is fine on straw so long as its good quality, am happy to provide feed, but hay included would be a bonus.
I need to also suss out who is a good farrier, vet, equine dentist, tack shops, feed merchants, saddlers/menders! As well as who does clinics, where the good venues/ECs etc are. I have heard good things about Richmond, but as yet haven’t been up there to suss it all out. I am keen to get him hunting again too, he is jolly to say the least but provided he can keep going forward he is fine!
Any advice gratefully received

there's certainly plenty of hunting in the area, depending how far you want to travel and the type of going you/he prefer... just for starters, you've got Bedale, West of Yore, Zetland, South Durham, Hurworth, Cleveland, Bilsdale all within a relatively short drive (up to an hour in a box i guess), going up to Pendle Forest and Craven (on the western side of the pennines), York & Ainsty North, York & Ainsty South, Middleton, Staintondale, Sinnington, Holderness (on the east coast) who are further away...

I can't be of much help on the livery front, but the richmond centre is nice with good facilities from a competition side...

what about the garrison saddle club? http://www.cattericksaddleclub.co.uk/livery.aspx ....

other places in the area are Fieldhouse Equestrian (who also have a shop), Northallerton EC, Brookleigh Centre, or Bedale Livery (though they're all a bit further from Catterick...
