I am bringing my 13 YO ISH back to work after a period of possible LGL. I noticed when schooling him yesterday, that he is VERY stiff and inflexible on the left rein.

What causes one rein stiffness and what excerices and or help can I give him to become more supple and flexible?

Thanks

Could be caused by stiffness in back or neck? or could be a teeth problem or his saddle not fitting? Sorry what does LGL mean? It might hold a clue to the stiffness!
If he has been off work for a while I would bring him back in slowly (no schooling yet) and may also get a chiro out to make sure everything is tickedy boo before you start!

Once you have ruled out the pain issues carrot stretches will probably help

LGL (low grade laminitis) thought vet and farrier do not agree. I am half and half as I realise now the thing which made me thnk he had LGL was the shortness one side (the side which I am not concerned is stiff)

He has been on paddock/box rest for a week so get his weight down as he was looking rather rotund, before this he was in light/medium work.

He is due both teeth and back so will get those checked and re-evaluat, thanks
