Cauterised soft palate - any experience of this?

Has anyone had their horse's soft palate quarterised to improve a breathing/wind problem? And if so, was it successful, how traumatic was it and what has your horse gone on to do?

Thanks in advance - I'm weighing up options!

Yes he had that and a hobday. And went on to do two seasons hunting with out making a noise. Recovery was fine, but he was quite used to being a patient!
