Cavaletti saddle on a cob

Has anyone got any experience of a Cavaletti VSD/ GP saddle on a short backed, chunky cob? Looking for an adjustable saddle and currently using Bates cob saddle which doesn’t fit well.

Yes, designed more with natives in mind. The headplate is more of a U shape than the regular V shape, and the widths are more generous and go quite wide. Doesn't feel like a cheap saddle to ride in either.

I have a Cavaletti GP and previous to that a Cavaletti jump on a ridiculously short backed pony and apparently it’s one of the few saddles that will fit him!

That does sound a bit like us Irish Milo- although mine is rather barrel shaped too!

GP, did try the vsd too which i like but ultimately picked the gp for more security on my youngster.

Ah, that makes sense. I’m trying to avoid him looking as though he has’ too much saddle’ - hence the VSD, but impossible to know till I try.
