The sizing of cavallos is crazy! My horse is on more than one boot smaller than his measured foot size. I don't understand how they work their sizing out at all. I think you can only go with trial and error, making sure you keep the boot clean until you're sure it fits.

Have watched the video and measured several times might just have to take a chance!
Yes, just been looking at this myself! Mine’s a bonkers size 8, I can’t currently find any.

Blimey that sounds big but mine are arabs so feet are quite small, have you tried eBay I looked on there earlier there are quite a few shops selling on there.

Yes I saw those as well they are very expensive new but a bit of a risk if your unsure of size with used, don't really know what to do might look at other brands!

thanks to your post i remembered i had some cavallo sport boots which i had never used and i looked in the box to check the sizing. its a shame you need size 3 as mine are bigger. i have just put them on the regional boards to sell as i lost the horse they were for in 2016.

also if you check other threads there have been a few recently discussing the merits of different boots, so that thread may help you decide which would be best for yours..

Thank you that's a shame yours are bigger, I looked into it a bit they will be used mainly for turnout rehab as his got thin soles and weak walls, so may need pads and the cavallo were recommended for that purpose.

Mine’s having an issue going up and down the lane, which is quite stony and the field is rock hard, despite the recent rain. Trouble is, his hinds are very arthritic, bone chips floating in both hocks but Danilon is keeping him comfortable. He’s alright in his box, which is fully matted, but needs to be out so he doesn’t stiffen up.

I’m going to be cross if it’s too big, they’re about £80 for the big foot ones, compared to £50 for the Treks/entry level and I’m off to Skiathos on Friday then straight up to Newcastle for the funeral, so I’ll have bother returning them. I’ll clingfilm/plastic bag them up for trying on. The farrier has to get extra large shoes for him, so fingers crossed they’ll be ok.

I put a cut down stocking on Molly’s foot (shown here on her near fore) when I tried on her Cavallos for the first time, plus I had a clean towel on the floor so that the boot wouldn’t be marked. This pic was taken after I decided that they fitted her! They’re 3 years old now, and still fit her fine. They mould to the horse’s shape over the first few wearings, so don’t keep them on too long at the beginning.

So sorry about your Dad, CT, what a shock for you all.

Fingers crossed for the boots. I think EU distance selling law gives you 28 days to return them if they don't fit.

Bugger. They don't fit. He's chipped off more hoof so I'm sending back the now too big boots and getting a more normal size 6 which are also slightly too big but will allow for hoof growth. Bonus: 'normal' size boots are about £30 cheaper.

Oh no but at least you are saving a bit of money, I ordered some on Friday from little fields because although his ok in the field I think riding will make him sore, I have been thinking of taking him barefoot so this has kind of forced it now, so the barefoot journey begins, I got size 2 and I put them on him for a short while in the field and he was walking fine but was having a good look and smell of them, so we are in the breaking in of the boots stage, I was thinking of doing a little thread of our progress his feet look better already so will take some pictures tomorrow.

I hope your size 6 fit let us know how you get on with them.

I'm going to wait til he's had a trim, his feet look terrible, he's in dire need. One may need a size 5, the other probably a 6, although this may go down after his trim, of course!

I think that's probably a good idea I measured mine straight after and after 5 weeks they were 1/4 inch longer so quite a difference. I had to get the slim fitting for mine as his hooves were narrower than the length.

CT feet narrower than long is normal. Several boot manufacturers sell standard and narrow widths. I wouldn't worry about it, if he's meant to have round feet they will come round in time.
