Can anyone tell me if Cavallo boot foot sizes are reasonably true or if they come up large/small? I generally take a size 6/39 in regular footwear but a size 5.5 in country boots and some riding boots. Any info welcome- and thanks in advance!

I think they come up a bit small. I bought a 37 I think, which feels a bit big, even with one thick and one thin pair of socks on. I'm usually a 35 (!) in everyday shoes, but a 36 or 37 in boots with socks. I should have got a 36 I think.

I bought mine froma super lady near Gatwick, who measured me in person to make sure I got the right calf width. She was brilliant; wish I could remember her name!

I'm a 7 in everything and my size 7 cavallos fit me fine, although I wear two pairs of socks as I do with my ariats and also "normal" footwear quite often.

Person who may have measured you near Gatwick is Katie from One the Hoof
http://www.onthehoof.co.uk/

Definitely knows what she is doing as daughter of family who used to supply Cavallo in this country.

She is also very helpful about styles etc as there are so many different ones...

Yes that's her! She was super. Really helped me get exactly the boots I wanted. I was a bit surprised how stiff the boots were to start with, but they are like a second skin now.

I actually found they came up slightly big and went down half a size from my normal shoe size. Did buy my last pair several years ago though (they really have lasted well) and do stuggle to get more than one pair of thick socks in winter, but perfect in the summer. Ido really need to get another pair if anyone can recommend who to use. Are Garaco the company that used to import them now no more?

Garaco no longer the UK suppliers - the owners retired - so I believe Zebra products now have UK distribution rights. Definitely recommend Katie from On the Hoof to buy from as she will make sure you get the right fit - I think a lot of shops just dont have the experience that a spcialist does - and just want to sell what they have rather than ordering specially. I used to sell Cavallo things a few years ago (just did it as a sideline, and mainly breeches) and I know that the boots come with an enormous variety of options, (which most shops wont even mention) to make sure you get the right fit. They also come in several different colours, including 3 types of brown - far too much choice!
