cavan horse sales- any experiences or anyone going?

I have been to Cavan - but never bought from there. I have however bought 4 from Goresbridge.

Cavan is a lovely complex with ample viewing/trying facilities. They appear to be friendly and it is easy to bid and watch whats going on.

All my horses have been imported by Doran Equine - for £250 each and all arrived safe and well.

Good luck - it's a great experience.

Depends really - i only started going in 2008 as my money wouldn't stretch to far in the UK.

I have paid between £1900 and £3600 for my boys. Don't forget to check out taxes, vat and delivery costs as this all ads up.

I would have classed myself as an amateur (competant) rider and have never had any trouble with mine, who have ranged from 3 - 5 year olds.

If in doubt take a knowledgable friend and trust your instinct on things :)

Here are my boys - none of them arrived like this, but this is how they turned out :)

If you go on their website you will see the sales reports, don't expect prices this week will exceed anything there! you can pick up a lovely baby for just a few hundred euro.

Be careful, the auctioneers like to take bids from fresh air, I watched one English lady bid against herself up from 4,500 to over 7000 Euro at the first connemara sale they held in 2007!

Its a great experience, you could get a bargain, looking at the catalogue makes me very tempted but sadly too damn poor just now :(

forgot, you can reclaim your travel costs if you buy something over a certain price, read the small print and keep your tickets!
