The Cleveland Bay is Britain's oldest and rarest breed of horse. It is on the RBST critical list with only 33 pure bred foals registered, worldwide, in 2011.

I sometimes wonder if H M the Queen could use more of them for her carriages? It would be great for the breed.

I think she has between 30-40 Cleveland Bays, breeders were invited to a private visit of the Royal Mews a couple of months ago I went along. Not only are they being used for carriage processions, one is now with the King's Troop and if you are in London you may see the Mews grooms riding them in Hyde Park.

Quite a few were in the carriage processions during Ascot week, which we recorded.
