Hi everyone
I know you can get wireless CCTV for stables but can you get something similar for fields that can withstand weather and doesn’t need an electricity cable? Any recommendations for one that isn’t super expensive? A couple of days a week I’m going to get a freelance groom to feed, poo pick etc (once per day) but I’m worried about the horses not being checked the rest of the time. My 2 live out all year and we’re on DIY livery. My winter field is a bit tucked away so doesn’t get the same footfall from other liveries so I’m worried nobody would notice an issue if I can’t be there. Thanks

I have used my reolink cameras in the field with a solar panel to keep the battery topped up. it works well :) i don't have electricity or wifi where my young horses are so they are ideal. they run off a sim card, i just check in on my phone when i want to. with a memory card in the camera it also records movement so you can scroll back at what it has captured earlier in the day if you need to see what's happened. at the moment i have one in the shelter and one covering most of the field (L shape so they can hide in one corner currently :p)

Thanks Milliepops that sounds ideal. Is there a specific model or do I just search Reolink?

I have a reolink go. I use in field and stable. I would get a waterproof cover if its going to be out in rain as I had to return one as it got water in the lens.

Oh really? I might have to do that too as mine’s outside in the weather and the way the wind normally blows too. It’s my first winter with it so don’t want to kill it already.

Yes, I had to return one. They are supposed to be weatherproof but my first one got water in the lens after heavy rain. They were pretty good about replacing it but I would think about where you put it or get a cover if its going to be outside all winter.

I run our three with a WiFi dingle, a rechargeable battery for it and they all run on solar. The dongle lives in atupperware box in the yard and the cameras are on fence posts except for one which is on an extendable metal pole, I can adjust that as I please
