Hi guys, my girl is recovering fom a bruised tendon & this morning she has a huge fat leg - when the vet clipped her legs - i think she must of grazed the skin as there has been a bit of bleeding & a scab there for a few days, but nothing like this morning. It is now, oozing etc, painful for me to touch.

She son box rest so i will be walking her out in hand everytime im up there - she will go out at the weekend for an hour or two to help reduce the swelling. She is also on Norodine sachets twice daily.

Ive never dealed with this before, so anybody have any words of wisdom? Thanks!

When my horse had cellulitis, he had to be put on injectable antibiotics, we were also walking out in hand, and cold hosing the leg several times a day.
Its very painful for them, so he scored some bute as well.
If it was me, I would think about giving the vet a call to see if they are happy that the Norodine will cover your horse, he might need something more.
Hope he's better soon
Kx

Thanks for that! Yes I was thinking that, she has been on them before when she cut her head open.
She's on bute aswell, although a very low dose! She has been out for an hour this morning to help it, it has gone down a little & isn't so rock solid!
Was thinking about giving it till Saturday & if not better get them to come inject with steroids it something as have heard that it can be very quick to go down with them! Have been cold hosing aswell, it looks painful :(. Wish I could take it away!
Will give them a call tomorrow if its no better. Thanks for the advice

I would get the vet out to inject with anti inflammatory (sp) because if it goes up the leg your in trouble. Massaging with a hot damp cloth is good however.

Update: The vet was out so had a luck at her, got to continue the norodine & got to ring them tomorrow about mroe bute, as they forget to give me some so had some off a friend, it goes down wih exercise so shes been starting to go out for a few hours a day.

Vet reccomended to encourage the scabb off with warm water to release all the horrible stuff & hopefully that will be the end of it! Shes sore on it, but sound, untill you start touching it, although alot better today! Hoping the anti-b's will really kick in now!. But yes, will call the vet about bute in the morning!
