It was peeing down!! My times weren't til 3.48 dressage, 4.30ish SJ and 5.15ish XC. It had been chucking it down all day until I got on
I definately managed to get the best part of the day although had the worst going obviously being one of the very last of the day to go
Our dressage went well I thought, considering the dressage arena was pure mud...... it was the worst Ive ever ridden on. We were the very last of the day to go so sadly we did have the worst. I thought he'd get quite a good score but ended up on 39 which was near the bottom
She gave us a 4 for our canter change of rein, trot at X which I thought was particularily mean, he slipped on one stride so his head came up which was hardly his fault considering.
SJ course was fine. Rather small, but then again conditions werent great. The course designers were rather rude and barked at us all a few times while we were trying to walk the course, but us competitiors had a good laugh about it asking each other if we'd "done our lines yet" or "got detention", he he. Loads of people ended with cricket scores. I think there was only 1 clear in my whole class. My boy was busy neighing coming into the first fence so we had it down from pure lack of concentration! The rest he popped perfectly.
XC was looking very messy when I got to it. But actually I was surprised at how well it rode. Only had one sticky moment at a upright log thing on a slope with a steep slope on the landing side but only because I rode too carefully at it as I was worried about him slipping so he did it from a stand still! Only other hairy moment was after the water, you had to jump out over a log and turn right round a tree to a skinny wide brush, we couldnt see it round the tree so by the time I got there I realised I was totally on the wrong angle but too late, so I kicked on and he flew it. Got back with the fastest time of the class. Ended up 6th which was ok. Would have been 3rd if I hadn't had the silly SJ pole.
My horse absolutely loved it which Im so pleased about as he felt like he should do again! Some might know that he got a scare at a novice trakhener a few months ago and hasnt been right XC since. He's lost a bit of confidence. We didnt have a good run at Burgie and we got eliminated last time at Scone at the trakhener...... So we did the OPN yesterday for a confidence boost which certainly worked. He really enjoyed himself. So will be entering Novice next time out again, hopefully thats us back on track
Howd everyone else do who was competing?? There's classes on today as well - dont fancy their ground conditions at all.......
