I'm about to sell my horse and just wondered what a certificate of sale should include. So far I have come up with:-

Horse name and brief description with passport and micro chip numbers.

Sold on --/--/----

For sum of £--------

It is underdstood that this horse is sold as seen after a 4 week trial period by the buyers.

Is there anything else that should be added?

If a trial is offered (which it is) then make sure you write stuff about while in their care they MUST keep his vaccs, shoeing, worming etc. up to date and MUST pay any veterinary bills incurred during his time with them etc. Thing can and DO happen when horses are away on trial, trust me! Make sure you go into detail about this so it covers everything! The last thing you want is for them to damage your horse then sent it back to you to sort out the vet.....

Also, write a very accurate list of everything your giving with the horse which must be given back if the horse is given back. Even take some photos of your tack just in case. I had a horse go on trial to be sent back with not his own bridle, no girth, no stirrups etc.!! Luckily she was ok about it and sent it all up after.
