Just chatting about this at the yard this morning.
Who adds water to feed and who doesn't? Why?
If you just gave a bucket of chaff would you add water?

I do - boy only gets a handful of chaff and supps at the moment and I wet it. Mostly because i never see him drinking and it freaks me out so its one way of making sure he's having some water!

I damp chaff as I think it looks unappetising like dry weetabix otherwise. YO doesn't bother though when she feeds him and he doesn't seem to care less!

I went my horses feed, she just has some chaff and ballencer with her supplements. As above its because I think it looks so un-appetising dry :o

sometimes

if im making up feeds for the clan i put water in from a bucke in the feed room so its done but if my mum is making the feeds she doesnt. when the horses get their feeds i dont add water but my mum does so if i've made the feed and mum gives them out its very dampened down but if mum makes the feed it usually doesnt get any water in it, we just dont think about it! but horses produce enough salyva whilst eating that they shouldnt need it dampened down however mine has had choke a couple of time and once only last week so im being extra vigalent with adding water making it almost too wet so its more of a goop than dampening
