Hello everybody.
Semi crisis happening. I currently have my wee lad on Halley's Greengold, Purabeet & Top Spec Leisure, he's thriving on it, brilliant condition and not too fizzy, which he can be prone to. He's a good doer, but is getting a decent amount of hard feed at the mo as he's in the fat boys field, not too much grass and is in medium/competative work.
However, I am thoroughly fed up with the varying quality of the greengold. the quality is alway a bit of a hit or miss, but the last 2 bags I had were lovely light fluffly bags and the third I opened yesterday was awful to say the least. looks like its been swept from the barn floor and doesn't even smell nice. I am going back with it today, but am reluctant to get another because it does vary so much and it seems like another bad 'batch' is around as others on the yard don't seem much better. There are stones in it and everything. God knows if they even have any quality control!!
can anyone recommend a similar non molassed, chaff style feed to use instead? The simple system luciestalks is about the closest thing I have seen, but I am not paying £9 for a bag of chaff
anyone know anything about equillibrium, there are a few on our yard that recommend I use that. It has a little molasses and a few other bits and pieces, but they reckon I could feed less of it and half his top spec ration, which would balance out the cost as well.
Any recommendations would be most welcome as I have now comletely run out of feed and need to go to the store this lunchtime.
Thanks
