This post has probably been on a million times before (please navigate me to it if you know where one is!)

What have people found the best to use. I'm just getting my TB back into "proper" work. He's been hacked and long reined for 18 months now, but I want to get his back and hind working from the ground, then eventually on top too.

I'm very experienced with long reining and lungeing but due to a long lay off my riding is basic (but to be fair he won't be doing more than basic flatwork with me anyway! Circles, leg yields, serpentines etc)

Any input?

Pessoa for lunging and de gouge for riding but saying that some horses work better in certain training aids than others its a case of seeing which your horse is more comfterbale with, but them two every horse I seen or ridden or lunged seemed quite happy with them

Yes usually I use it as an independant rein. Granted that it is not dissimilar to using draw reins, however i find they don't get as overbent (although the scope is still there)

I have a bungee; you can attatch in in different ways so it acts as a chambon, de-gogue or side riens. They are only about £7 so worth the investment. Dont work miracles or anything, but a very useful thing to own.

Chambon and de Gogue for lunging also side reins attached to a Wilson snaffle for lunging to stop the horse leaning and this combination is great if the horse is sensible enough to free school.

Tried them all, love the Pessoa for lungeing, think it is completely down to the individual horse and preference. Was skeptical about the Pessoa but am a convert and wouldn't be without it.
