Chameau boots

My lovely le Chameau wellies seem to be reaching the end of their life after about 8 years. The boot designs have changed since I bought them and wondering what to replace them with - they are totally plain green with neoprene lining, no buckles, zips etc. Has anyone tried the leather-lined ones and are they any good? Does anyone have any opinions on which of the neoprene-lined ones are the best (are the more expensive ones any better?)?

A friend of mine uses Le Chameau stalking boots as (very expensive) wellies. They have been through a lot, including being rescued from a bog, and she swears by them!

I have just bought some tyne muck boots, which sound similar to what you are describing, and can really recommend them!

Both the neoprene lined and leather lined ones are amaaaazing. I have quite a few friends use them for shooting as well as at the yard and love them! They're on my wish list

Aigle neoprene lined ones are also very good if you don't want to fork out uite so much

I wouldn't buy anything else, I replaced my 9 year old all track Le Chameau's last year with the Vierzernord (spelling probably all wrong!) with neoprene lining and they are fantastic. I know a gamekeeper who has almost all the styles and claims the neoprene lined are warmer than the leather lined. I did buy the gents style as I work on farms with boiler suits and jeans etc and found the ladies too narrow around the ankle with all that stuck in there too, skinny jeans or jods would have been fine though.

I have le chameau's and they are amazing. I wouldn't be without them now. I have the neoprene lined ones so can't comment on the leather lining but neoprene ones have been such a great investment.

I'd initially got mine because i've got shot knees and needed something which would help stop me slipping in the mud - the traction is fantastic and i think they have saved my skin more than ones

There are two fittings - one wider the other narrower around the calf. I've got the narrow ones and they definitely keep my feet and legs warm and dry.

I bought the Viezenord(? sp) to use as yard wellies and loved them as they kept my feet really warm, only annoying thing being socks fell down all the time (due to neoprene lining I assume). But after about 18 mths the sole split so not waterproof any more, v disappointed at that price.

I have had the full leather field boot and both types of neoprene lining, and have been disappointed with them all. The field boot lasted about 6 months, the cheaper neoprene lined started leaking around the foot after about 6 months and the expensive ones have just started leaking after 12 months. I actually took these back just before xmas and was told it was 'wear & tear'. I must admit I am very hard on boots but for the price I paid for a pair of wellies I would like to get a few years out of them! The shop I bought them off recommended the neoprene lined ones as opposed to the leather lined as they said your feet can get very cold in the leather lined ones.
