Hi, im looking at replacing my crash hat with a Champion Ventair flexible peak. Any one have one are they any good??

Also open to any other hats people think are good, its been a while since i replaced my every day crash hat & it has taken some knocks due to exuberant youngsters oh & dropping it (oops). I want something lighter and not as bulky any recomendations??

my Oh is planning to get one of these - they are supposed to be very good - they are lovely and neat compared to most hats and he loved it whan he tried it on....

I have one and it fits my odd head the only thing I will say is that it sems to have lost padding since I purchased it (jul06) either that or my head has shrunk!

I like them - but they don't fit my odd round head

The other thing I would say is the sizes come up very large, so you'll definitely need to try them on!

I used to have a Champion ventair (but not flexible peak). It was by far the comfiest hat I have ever owned but if the one you're going for is covered in suedy-type stuff, and you use it heavily, it will be bleached and look a bit scruffy within a year.

Hope that helps.

I have the ventair hat for every day, not had it long and do keep it in the protective bag, very comfortable and pleased with it but Champion hats do fit me well. Also have the ventair skull for xc that has to be one of the most comfortable skull caps I have ever worn.

I'm glad someone has the same problem. Mine was tight enough to give me a headache when I first got it, but now is too loose and I need to do something about it.

Thanks everyone good reports, think i shall invest, anything would be better than my knackered hat!! I looked on the retailers list for Champion as i would like to try one now with regards to sizing & the only retailer close by to me is one that i vowed never to use again. Typical isnt it, plus i can never get there when there open.

Looks like im going to have to guess & buy one online, i think a 7 would do it. If not i'll make sure i can send it back first!!

really wanted one of these but when i went to get one the woman said that as i was going to do a lot of xc in the summer it would be safer to get a charles owen with a jockey silk. needless to say i was very very peed off

Skye the lady in the shop gave you good advice, as I understand it, it is recommended that jockey skull with silk is safer for xc, disapointing for you when you wanted the hat but at least she was concerned for your overall safety.

I have one....very comfortable and gets a very good rating in all the crash tests.

The only downside for me is that my head still gets very hot inside and after a years daily use, it is ready for replacement as the inside has become rather smelly and mouldy
