You are being invited to take part in a short online study. This study is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has been resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years. I also invite you to send the information onto your personal contacts (friends / family etc.) the person who recruits the most people to this study will win £30, and there is also a chance to win £70 in vouchers.
Information about the study:
This study is being completed as part of my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London.
You are being invited to participate in a study into social perceptions and experiences in relation to individuals with learning disabilities. The study consists of a computer task and a questionnaire:
The computer task measures social perceptions at various levels of processing.
The questionnaire will ask you about your attitudes, feelings towards and contact with individuals with learning disabilities.
The study should only take approximately 10 - 15 minutes to complete. This study is open to any adult (at least 18 years old) UK residents, i.e. individuals that have lived within the UK for the last 3 years or more.
For one of the tasks in this study we will be recording your response times. To do this we are using some software called Inquisit. When you initially click on the link below you will be asked to save a file called: npInquisit.exe
This file is safe and free of viruses and simply allows for your responses to be recorded and hence needs to be saved and run in order for you to take part in the study. After you have saved the file (by clicking the Save button on the pop up window), simply double click on it in your downloads list and run it. The webpage will reload and you will see a Start button under the information about the study.

At the end of the study you will have the opportunity to enter into a prize draw for £70 of vouchers (from a store of your choice). In addition, there will be a prize of £30 for the individual that recruits the most participants to this study. In order to be eligible for this prize, please forward this email to friends, relatives or colleagues who are resident within the UK. Only individuals whom you have forwarded the email to that then take part in the study can be counted toward your recruitment total. The winners of these prizes will be contacted at the end of the data collection period. If you have been forwarded this email by a friend etc. and you are happy to take part, please make a note of their email address before starting the study. You will need to type this email address in at the end of the study you will unfortunately not be able to copy and paste it.
Your participation in this study is entirely on a voluntary basis and you are free to withdraw from the study at any time. All the responses you give will be anonymous and will be stored confidentially. By completing and returning this survey, you are giving us your consent that the personal information you provide will only be used for the purposes of this project and not transferred to an organisation outside of UCL. The information will be treated as strictly confidential and handled in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998. If you have any further questions about this study before / after participation, please feel free to contact me or my supervisor (Dr Katrina Scior) and we will be happy to answer any questions:
