My YO (am on full livery) told me today that for the last couple of days my mare has stood at the gate after being turned out and was asking to get back in and getting quite distressed! She is normally the other way round - prefers to be out than in! Last winter in another yard there was limited winter turnout and she used to barge past me when I opened her stable she was so desperate to get out!! The field is quite muddy so that could be it as she dosent like the mud. Nothing else has changed her field companions are the same. Should I be worried in case she is getting bullied in the field or something or is she just a spoilt horsey?!!

I don't think it's hunger there is still a good bit of grass in her paddock although maybe she prefers her Haynet full of haylage ;)

Although there might seem to be alot of grass, if the field is well used the grass becomes less palatable due to the pee and poo. It has been suggested that this taint can last up to two years. So if she knows there's sweet haylage on offer she may be letting you know that she doesn't want to eat that 'muck'.
