Not sure if this is the right place to post.

But anyway..

I've been around horses since a young age and when I left school I went and got an office job as was convinced there was no money in horses.. I've come to the point now where an office job is just not for me and want to pursue a career in the equestrian industry..

I wouldn't say I'm an amazing rider but I'm by no means a novice as jumped up to foxhunter (ponies) bsja. As I have no official grooms experience, apart from voluntary grooming for an armature (bsja) what is the likelyhood of being able to get a half decent grooms job on half decent pay??

If you have looked after your own horses for years and are willing to learn, you should be able to get a low paid job, but you could look in to these jobs where they are also looking for somebody to live in and help look after the house as well, then you would have low out-goings and you would get paid a bit more than a basic groom role whilst building up your experience.

Hi 3mm4,

You could always try writing to some of the big professional yards and ask if you could do some work exerience there for a couple of weeks or so. I did this and got offered a permanent job. I guess it would depend on if you can afford to work for nothing for a few weeks though, good luck for the future.

Emm.
