Just got a new horse how do i go about changing the ownership on it, the horse is branded oldernburg and has a passport with the oldernburg stamp on it, there is an adress to send it to but its in germany so im worried about sending it off and not getting it back or it getting lost etc, also i dont know how much money to send with it, weather i can send it as a check in £'s or not

Any Ideas?

he also has a foregin microchip any idea what i do with that too?

Post is generally no problem, but you can send it signed for so that you will know its arrived safely. Photocopy it before you send it so that you have all the info if the worst happened and it did go missing as the passport can then be replaced.
Re: payment, the easiest way is to phone them and ask (they speak good english) as they will have a lot of UK people wanting to pay and you can just do a bank transfer in whatever currency they want.

When I bought a horse with a Dutch passport, I sent it to the UK version of the breed society and they overstamped it. It didnt need to go back to Holland.

Hi, I don't think the Oldenburg Verband have a UK division, but their website does have an English version so I should give them a ring/e-mail. When we bought our Trakehner (I know there is a UK division of their Verband but we live in Belgium), I phoned them and then did as suggested re photocopying and registered mail. I had to send the euros in cash with the passport.Hope this helps!
