I just dont know what to do for the best for my lad.....

he is in a fly rug most of time and needs it as he takes really bad with the flies.

however we are getting really heavy showers here. I know fly rugs dry off quickly, but when I went over this morning it was soaking and like a dead weight on him, plus its rubbing him with it being wet. .... so took that off and hung it to dry. When he had dried off I popped his lightweight on - but after 10 mins he was too warm as it is very muggy and humid (lots of flies as well). . . so off that came and ive ended up leaving him totally naked and caked in fly spray..... now im worrying that he's rubbing his mane/tail

Having the same problems down here too. Normally I have one in a summer sheet or a Kool Koat and the other naked. Cant believe I am faffing about with turnout and stable rugs in july!!!

Looking at tonights forecast I think it will definately be light Nzs!

Yep...know what you mean, turned out with nothing on today,so far only one shower! You can buy the Rambo Flybuster, which I brought that has a waterproof liner...could be the answer...so for an extra £25 that's what I'm going to do!

I bought him a fly rug a week ago because he was getting attacted by flys and ever since it has been raining one minute and the next minute the flys are in force with a abit of sun. eeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr

I am hating this weather too. Kia has his switch and BB so not bothered about flies but now he has rain scald where his saddle is and I want it to clear up before I ride

Not bleeding fair is it!!! I have just put a lightweight on him as its quite breezy here so hoping he wont sweat too much.

I just finished my £30 bale of hay so I thought to save a bit of money i'll put my mare out 24/7. Which day did I run out of hay for? Saturday night. Perhaps the worst weekend of wind and rain. It lasted 2 days and on monday I felt so heartless I got another bale of hay and started bringing her in at night again! She has her lightweight on in the field and fly rug at night at the mo. If it was just light rain id leave her fly rug on in the field but its been such heavy showers. I dont think the flies have been too bad in the day. Not so good in the evening though.
