We brought a horse and the ad we saw him in said he was six. When we went to try him out we loved him and the owner told us that on his passport it says hes eight, but when she brought him from a market three years ago, he was vetted and aged as a three year old. We had him vetted our selves and the vet said that he seemed to be six, no older than seven. We trusted both the owner and the vet and we are 100% sure that he was six.
Now, a two years on, he should be around eight, yet his passport would claim him to be ten. I would really love to BSJA him now and we don't want any false information on his passport. Also, when we come to sell him in the future, we do not want to be seen as tricky, unreliable sellers when we try to convince potential buyers about the truth of his age.

Does anybody know how we can go about changing this information? Would I have to apply for a completley new passport?

I really need help so any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys.

My vet did mine 10 years out of date, putting my horse at 18 rather than 8! I didnt notice till last summer when a friend pointed it out. I got the vet to write a covering letter to say they were wrong. (The passport is an off the shelf job where I photocopied the vac certificate!)

When I bought Ella, two years ago, she was 7 even though the passport said she was 9. The seller wrote a note to that effect and the passport issuing office changed her passport to the correct age, but as I have no intention of selling her it doesn't really matter. BTW both my horse dentist and vet have told me that it is just about impossible to age a horse accurately by it's teeth, so it may be that the original passport is in fact accurate.

I've got a Breed society passport that says one of my mares will be born in 2996.
