My 10 year old Section D mare is currently on 2 cups of oats and one scoop of chaff, twice a day.
She arrived very overweight and now looking a good weight.
I know that people will say if she is looking well ect then keep her on it but i just feel she could come of the oats.
Any suggestions on what to feed her as i dont want her to put weight on but think she could come of the oats?
a few people have mentioned fast fibre.

Thankyou! :D

Ahhh not sure why you didnt consult your yard owner about this one ;)

You can take her off the oats, if you like, and give her some fibre nuts initially (1/4 scoop) with some chaff. Trouble is, ponies like yours breathe and put weight on :D You could see how she goes on the fibre nut/chaff combo initially then add a more hot feed should she need it :D

Anyway I am sure she is a very nice mare :D :D :D

Why don't you stay on the chaff and just add a general min supplement. Does she really need feed? If not just a vit/min block in her stable or field could do. Always fibre first and go from there. A lot off people could get away with just providing vit/min blocks but most owners feel they have to feed.
