Changing food

I'm considering changing my dogs food from Simpsons Premium to Eden. Does anyone have experience of Eden dog food?

Not set on changing but Eden has a 90% nutritional rating on all about dog food and it would be a similar flavour and quantity to what she currently has. On the flip side her weight is good, her poos are perfect and she does seem to love it, although as a Labrador she loves all food.

She's been on the same brand of kibble since I've had her and just was thinking about freshening things up. Any changes would be dome gradually over a few weeks

If she is eating well and a good, healthy weight, I wouldn't change. It is too easy to upset their systems, IME
I like the motto 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'

I've just switched all three of mine (12, 10, 2) over onto a different food due to being skint and my mother being left with 30kg worth of expensive dog food and no dog, with no problems whatsoever. Still mixing it with what was left of their previous food but stools and stomachs all fine.

I was feeding my dog with Eden Country Cuisine before I changed her to raw. It's a good quality kibble.

I've never had a problem when changing food, just done it.

I change mine quite regularly, I was once told all brands are deficient in something, somewhere and if you mix them up you should cover the bases.
But Clover has a sensitive stomach and is prone to upsets I think? In which case if you are changing for her rather than you I’d maybe not bother.

Yes, if she doesn't have a cast iron stomach, then proceed with caution.

Mine have today proven that excessive sheep poo can lead to vomiting.

Mine are fed Simpsons Premium, but I sometimes change the flavour. I have tried other brands but usually go back to Simpsons because it just suits my dogs. Never had any issues but mine also get raw meat, bones, whole rabbit/hare/lamb, eggs, butchers tripe and all sorts depending on what I can get. I like them to have a varied diet.

Yes she does have a sensitive stomach, no chicken, beef, lamb. She can tolerate two flavours of Simpsons Premium, duck and salmon. It was the 90% nutritional rating that is making me want to change it, but I believe its more for me than her. We have a holiday in Devon late January so maybe I'll leave it until after then, or stick by the not broke don't fix it motto mentioned above.

I have wanted to change her food but never came across anything I thought would be good until now. A friend said their dog was rather gassy on Eden though, and Clover doesn't fart much . I might be biased but I'm positive she doesn't, when she does rarely pump she seems very surprised by it, looks around accusingly at anyone else.

Don’t fix what ain’t broke, as already mentioned. It’s true that we’ve become a lot fussier re ingredients/ratings since the olden days (parents buy the toys, owners buy the food style marketing) and we’ve become far more picky about what we give as the awareness of what is good/bad food has increased. Saying all that, I wouldn’t be swapping unless you think her current food is no longer acceptable.

I regularly change brands/rotate through a few options - lowers the risk of a deficiency or being caught up in a recipe erroer/toxic level buildup issue.
