I have had the same instructor for years. She rescued me when I was in real trouble and I will always be grateful to her.Unfortunately, due to reasons that I don't want to share on an open forum I need to part ways with her.I want to do this kindly but I also need a new instructor.I am elderly and need a confidence giving instructor.Horse is in North Cheshire.Any suggestions also welcome.

Although I ride at a school I had the same horse and instructor 2/3 times weeky private lessons for years. Like you I don’t want to share why I needed to part, but I did and now have a lovely, kind instructor who has turned me around. I can’t help with suggestions but wanted pass on my experience, and to wish you good luck!

It's tricky because you of course don't want to be hurtful.
I'd maybe try and say something like
"I've learned so so much from you over the years and now I feel it's time to try something a bit different, to see what else I can learn . So id like to pause our lessons for a while as id like to explore some new things ". If you use AND within the first sentence rather than BUT , it sounds less negative towards the instructor (a little management training tip lol )
