Hoping someone can give me some advice re insurance :)
I've just got my renewal through from Petplan and it has gone up a lot! So I've been looking around other insurers and think I may go with KBIS, lots of praise from members on here and a good quote too!

My horse has a couple of exclusions on existing policy, she fractured her nasal bone in 2010 and was diagnosed with desmitis in both hind suspensories last October. Does anyone know how it works with transferring these claims/exclusions over to a new policy? And would that increase price at all?

speak to the insurers. most will exclude anything previously excluded by any other insurer. I changed after pet plan vastly increased my premium and excluded most of my horse. It is worth speaking to Amtrust equine - they were the only ones who would reconsider my exclusions after another vet assessment and were sensibly priced

In theory exclusions should reduce the price not increase it as they are illnesses/ areas of the horse that the insurance doesn't have to cover any more - different to car insurance when several crashes/ claims might suggest something about the drivers abilities.
Unless they can spot some of the self harming horses in which case the car example might stand!
I'm sure they won't bring the price down (they are never that nice) but shouldn't increase it - they'll probably ask for your current renewal and copy across the exclusions.
