A youngster I bought last year has a microchip but no info on the company supplying it. The dealer I bought him off has no idea either. I would like to have my name on his microchip details so does anyone know which company (or companies) would be the most likely supplier of microchips for horses. Thanks to anyone who can help.

The first 3 digits of the micro-chip number will identify the manufacturer of it. Your vet will be able to advise you who it is. I would also suggest you look up your micro-chip number on www.nedonline.co.uk to find out further information of your horse.

Well worth having the horse scanned and checking that the chip number on the passport matches the chip in the horse. A friend of mine is just in the middle of trying to sort out what turned out to be a fake passport - as the chip no on the passport doesn't match the one in the horse - Trading Standards are looking into it and have said that it's quite a common problem!
