CHARCOAL FOR COLIC

My vet has recommended i give my 16.1 Anglo Arab Charcoal as he has had a bout of colic recently could anybody please tell me how much to feed and is it any good, THANKS

I presume that he had a gas colic? In the past Ive fed a handful of charcoal per feed but to be honest, Ive found most of it in the bottom of the manger afterwards

I've not heard of giving charcoal to horses before, only dogs. You can get charcoal biscuits, we used to sell them in our pet shop. My mare gets very gassy, we give her fennel seeds from global herbs, if ever she is gassy she has a scoop of these in her feed and it seems to help.
