Hi everyone i am planning a table top sale in the market harborough area , with profits from table pitch sales and refreshments going to charity which charity yet to be decided, has anyone got any good ideas ?? starting planning now and just wondered if anyone had any good ideas!! thanks!

Not much to think about really. Venue is quite important. A village hall that is easy to reach for people, lots of advertising in all the local tack shops, etc. and some local newspapers - about 3-4 weeks in advance.

Charge an entrance fee to go in. Have someone good on the door and don't let anyone sneak in early - it is even better if you have a separate entrance for the people selling and customers. Over book your tables slightly as there is nearly always someone who can't come at thelast minute and the worst thing is to have empty tables. Get advance payment if possible, but if not go round with a list and make sure you get the money!

Home made cakes go down very well, Don't charge too little.

What about public liability insurance? Do your risk assessment, ie don't block fire exits or have the entrace overcrowded.

There is already a table top sale organised for 16th March at Stoke Albany, proceeds going to the ILPH. So if you want to come along and join us there, feel free.

Yes it is a good idea! Especially this time of year.

One that's held in the Hinckley area also has a communial table where if you've only got one or two bits & pieces, they'll have it on the table and take a commission.

Let me know when/where please!
